Love Challenge Orlando

Loving the world - one act at a time

SCROLL DOWN

Love Challenge Orlando

Loving the world - one act at a time

The challenge

Love your neighbor. That's what we are all about. We are all human, and we are all deserving of love and compassion. But our world is full of division and hatred and like many of y'all, we've had enough of it. But we are actually trying to put our money where our mouth is and live out this "love" that we always talk about. So we are challenging ourselves, and Orlando, to keep sharing the love in new and unexpected ways.

The Story

We stand united. We stand strong. We stand for love.

The Story

We stand united. We stand strong. We stand for love.

The idea got its start from two different sources.

The first source: The ever infamous game, "Cards Against Humanity".
Wait, how?

We are not one hundred percent sure exactly - that game is ridiculous. However, we recognize that within that game we are able to play combinations of things that normal loving human beings would never actually say or do.

What if the inverse were true? What if we had cards that would challenge us to say and do things we also wouldn't do. Except instead of challenging us towards the hilarious and/or shocking hell-bent combinations created in "Cards Against Humanity", these cards would challenge us to actually love each other in simple, practical ways. They would in a way, be cards for humanity.

The second source: Orlando United (amongst other things)

There has been a lot of tragedy, hardship, and division hitting our workplaces, churches, homes, and communities. Everything ranging from political disputes gone rogue, to terrible, tragic, loss of life found in such events as the Pulse shootings in Orlando (2016), the Paris attacks (2015), along with a saddening plethora of other domestic and international incidents

But the aftermath of each of these instances, while filled with loss and extended periods of grieving, was filled with a spirit of unity, love, and compassion. We've seen entire neighborhoods, cities, even nations united against the forces of evil and hatred - and the imagery is powerful.

However, often the solidarity and fight for love only happens with our words, profile pictures, and tweets. We need to actively live out love. We need to actively show our homes, our city, our nation that we will actually live out our love.

The Goal

The Goal

Change

Change our actions. Change the culture. We need to change the way we look at the world. We need to change the way we go about our daily lives. We are NOT going to get anywhere by only tweeting about love. We HAVE to adopt a proactive attitude that genuinely seeks to change the world - one small step at a time. But it starts with the self.

impact

Impact UCF. Impact City Beautiful. Impact our communities. Impact our culture. Impact the  world. Once we start living out our words, others will be influenced. Our friends, neighbors, co-workers, enemies, will be positively affected. We are looking to create an impact that will prompt the same change we are challenging ourselves with.

love

Lastly, we want love. We need to show love. Change self. Impact others. Love each other. This is the ultimate goal. A state where love is consistently drowning out hatred. A system where love always triumphs. A culture where we truly live out our calling of loving each other.

"30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
